Is Past Life Regression Therapy Right for You? Check These Signs:

Have you ever wondered if some of your problems could be repeated patterns from your past lives? Recently, many people have been becoming more and more curious about past life regression therapy. For some, it’s about knowing who they were in previous lifetimes. For others, it’s a necessity to free themselves from an unknown past life trauma.

No matter what the reasons are, some people leave the past life regression session with great satisfaction and understanding while others leave with disbelief or more questions than answers.

As a clinical hypnotherapist, I see past life regression therapy as solving a very mysterious puzzle about the deepest parts of ourselves. This requires a lot of awareness, curiosity, understanding, and being open. When all the conditions are met, past life regression therapy can be very revealing and transformative. However, if you are not a good candidate, you may be disappointed.

Here is a small checklist of what can possibly make you a good candidate for a past life regression journey:

  • You believe in reincarnation

Reincarnation itself is a belief, religion, or even a philosophy of a person, animal, or a living thing to be reborn. Although reincarnation by itself is a belief, it’s also a part of lots of major religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, or Jainism.

A belief in reincarnation can be one of the determinators of a positive past life regression therapy experience. After all, past life regression is about retrieving memories of past lives from the subconscious mind. If you don’t believe in the possibility of rebirth, it may be difficult for you to accept and internalize your memories.

If you don’t believe in reincarnation, past life regression therapy can be confusing for you. You may wonder if the images you saw during hypnosis were out of your imagination or memory. On the other hand, if you already believe in the reincarnation theory, the images you saw during hypnosis will easily be digested.

  • You have an inexplicable physical or mental block

Oftentimes people want to try past life regression because of a problem they are experiencing in their lives. These may be things like chronic pain without any physical reason, fears without any earlier negative experiences, or patterns that seem to disrupt the person’s life.

In these cases, it’s extremely important to take a look at the person’s earlier life experiences first. Childhood traumas or stuck emotions can manifest physically or mentally. Some of the common physical manifestations could be psychosomatic illnesses such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Fibromyalgia, Psoriasis, other weight problems, or chronic pain in a specific part of the body. Subconscious manifestations of childhood trauma can look like toxic relationship patterns, irrational fears, or lack of self-esteem.

If you had a traumatic life experience in the past, the source of your problems may still lay there. In these cases, past life regression won’t bring the expected results or relief and you may be disappointed.

Before you consider past life regression therapy as a resolution to a problem in your life, review your earlier life experiences. Did you have an experience that may have triggered this behavior or thought pattern? Even if the memory may seem far behind or not relevant anymore, the subconscious mind works in mysterious ways and you may be holding onto something from the past.

In other cases though, past life regression may be just what you need. If you have the physical and mental blocks but nothing adverse from your past, it may be time to explore your “real” past this time! In some cases, even just remembering or becoming aware of a past life can bring significant relief.

  • You are open to explore

Past life regression therapy involves lots of unproven theories, unexplained phenomena, and puzzling results. Someone who needs concrete proof or who doubts the inner workings of the subconscious mind may not find the past life regression therapy satisfactory.

For a successful past life regression session, we usually need an open mind who believes in magic, the power of the mind, and the symbolism of the mind. If you are too skeptical or questioning the results of the subconscious mind, this may be a challenging experience for you.

  • You believe in the power of your subconscious mind

One of the most effective methods for past life regression therapy is hypnosis. Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness that is achieved by deep physical relaxation, mental calmness, and focus in the mind. What makes hypnosis a successful tool are a few elements such as rapport with the practitioner, belief in hypnosis, and openness to change.

If you don’t believe in hypnosis overall, you may not get the best out of the past life regression therapy with hypnosis. You may find yourself questioning the methods every step of the way which will interfere with the idea of diving deep into the subconscious mind.

  • You have a purpose for the past life regression journey

There are usually two types of past-life regression candidates: The ones who just want to know who they were in their past lives or whether past-life theory is real or not, and the ones who want relief from a significant problem in their life. No matter what made you curious about past life regression, having a purpose for the journey will help you get the most out of the experience.

The purpose for the past life regression journey serves as a guide for the subconscious mind.  Our mind is a goal machine and when there is a specific goal ahead, the mind will do everything to bring in the results.

When considering a past life regression therapy, ask yourself, what is your intention? What is it that you’d like to find out?

Wrapping up

Even if this checklist doesn’t apply to you, one thing you should always keep in mind is that if you are coming to a past life regression session to prove to yourself if the past life regression therapy is real or not, you may not get the best results. After all, there is no proof of unexplained phenomena. As it applies to any hypnotherapy session, come with an open mind, curiosity, and willingness to learn and accept more about yourself!
