How Can You Tell If Someone Is Hypnotized?

How can you tell if someone is hypnotized?

If you don’t know what hypnosis really is, you may be thinking that it is this out-of-space experience where you will lose consciousness. However, hypnosis is A LOT simpler than that!

Many people assume that hypnosis is this crazy state where the body is going to be paralyzed, and the mind is going to be in a deep deep state where no one can ever reach you.

And it can only happen in a hypnotherapist's office with hypnotherapists guiding you verbally towards hypnosis.

The truth is it's so much more spontaneous, easy and effortless than you can ever imagine. From the moment that you actually walk into our (hypnotherapist’s) office, we're looking for signs of hypnosis in you!

We may use words differently, we may use hypnotic metaphors or other techniques to start changing your subconscious landscape before even you close your eyes! To determine your depth and guidance of hypnosis, we look for these signs:

3 Signs of Hypnosis

  1. Glazed eyes

One of the first things that we look at is watery eyes or maybe glazed eyes where eyelids are a little bit closed or seem like dozing off. This is a very common sign of hypnosis.

Individuals may describe this as feeling heaviness on the eyelids, eyes getting tired, or wanting to close. Sometimes this can also feel like eyes are focused on something.

2. Body language

Another thing that we look at is your body language. For example, if you're crossing your arms or legs, or if you're standing a little bit away from us maybe you're being a little bit resistant to hypnosis.

On the other hand, if you're mirroring our actions; for example, if you're repeating our words, giving yes answers, or nodding your head those could be good signs for hypnosis.

3. Eye movements

Another thing that we look at is your eyelids and how your eyes move under your eyelids. How quickly or slowly, how fast or in which direction your eyelids and your eyes move can determine the depth of your hypnosis as well as how and if you're hypnotized.

Final Words

It may be difficult for you to understand whether you are hypnotized or not. When the mind is really focused and the body is very relaxed, it becomes easier to shift focus internally.

If you find yourself in that place (that we call hypnosis!), don’t worry, just enjoy the ride; especially if you are working with a hypnotherapist that you can trust!
